This is something I came across first when using Windows 2003. We are asked a reason when shutdown or during abnormal shutdown we are asked for a reason during startup. Nice feature … But more often than not irritating for me atleast … So here is how we can disable this from coming up …
1. Click Start, Run, and type in GPEDIT.MSC. or Select “Group Policy Object Editor” with the mmc snapin.
2. Traverse to Computer Configuration Settings-> System-> Display Shutdown Event Tracker.
3. Disable the policy.
Simple as it can get a GPO and we are all set … :) … For critical production servers keep this feature on as it allows us to track the events … You can always play around with test environments with these settings for sure …Share this article
