Log parser is a powerful, versatile tool that provides universal query access to text-based data such as log files, XML files and CSV files, as well as key data sources on the Windows® operating system such as the Event Log, the Registry, the file system, and Active Directory®.
Fellow MVP Carl Porthman says:
“Note I’ve used this program to parse IIS log files and import the data (returned by the Group By query) into a SQL Server table. Log Parser even has a checkpoint feature built-in. So if the insert fails to SQL Server, the checkpoint for the log file remains the same. Very cool.”
