KB and Windows XP SP2 June 2nd, 2004

Here are some of the KB articles you can look for issues when it comes to Windows XP SP2 and SQL Server 2000. There might me more coming your way. But we need to understand that Windows XP SP2 is a big leap and for the first time I’ve seen “Features” included in Service Packs. And I would also look for more KB articles on this biggie Service pack of Microsoft. I surely look at this SP as a security, Networking and a couple of interesting feature requests that have been on the cards for loong like the pop-up blocker etc. My ONLY advise to all is to analyze and read all the documentation before applying on production machine. But whilst applying the same on home PC. I say, Just apply this blindly. There is nothing to be afraid about. You are getting more secure and you can capitalize on the firewall (not ICF) features, pop-up blocker, ActiveX control blocker etc. So here is the KB articles list i promised earlier …

Service Performance Advisor is a server performance diagnostic tool developed to diagnose root causes of performance problems in a Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 operating system, particularly performance problems for Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and the Active Directory® directory service. Server Performance Advisor measures the performance and use of resources by your computer to report on the parts that are stressed under workload.

Other server roles include system overview (hot files, hot TCP clients, top CPU consumed), print spooler, context switch data and preliminary File Server trace data.
